JOURNEAU - Radio "Fréquence Protestante" (live and podcasts on "www.frequenceprotestante.com)

September 20th, 2025 à 6.00 pm

In this second broadcast by the radio producer Paul-Hubert des Mesnards on Saturday September 20th at 6 p.m, we shall follow Maurice Journeau's mature path in his new life definitively in Paris. A time when he wrote numerous works for all instruments and orchestra. Those works being in a more modern style, but still a moderate one according to him with humour.

Yet, in the year 1984, he decided to stop writing music. Considering he had composed enough, although his last works kept something still young and fresh, even nearly a little jazzy in his clarinet work at the end. And all his works being unpublished until 1993. But musicians and publishers, radio producers became willing to make them known. So, when he died on June 9th, 1999 in Versailles, he had been able to meet his first artists and listen to them, even on first performance for some works of chamber music still unknown to him (for he played his piano works at home and thus knew them quite well), also for his Centenary in 1998 in France and Germany, and seeing how his music was so much loved by musicians and listeners.
