"Troisième Sonatine" (Third Sonatina) for piano Opus 12 (Henry Lemoine - Combre publisher)

2022-10-00

Maurice Journeau composed four sonatinas for piano, an attractive musical form indeed both for playing or hearing. His musical instrument was the piano, so he composed many piano works during his whole life. This third sonatina dates from December 1928 when the composer had to live in Nice on the french Riviera. He was then just thirty years old and his young wife was the dedicatee of this tender, passionate work. The sonatina's first performance took place in Paris on 14th January 1933 by Monique Haas, an avant-garde lady pianist at the time.

In three movements : "Allegro risoluto" (6'00) - "Lento" (5'00) - Vivace (4'00).
