The Quintet Largo in the castle of BloisMarch 21st, 2014 à 8.00 pm
On Friday, March 21st, 2014, at 8 pm, there will be a lively atmosphere in the Château de Blois. The students of the Music Conservatory of Blois (directed by Mr Jean-Claude Dodin) will play various works of instrumental and choral music.
Among them, we will hear for the first time in France a small quintet by Maurice Journeau for violin, flute, clarinet in A, cello and piano. This rather short work (four minutes) without technical difficulties, Largo(publisher: Europart-Music, in France), got its first performance in Germany on the occasion of a Christmas concert in 1995 in the town of Donauworth. The title of the work obviously means a large, very slow movement. It seems simple at first sight, but it requires in fact the art of expressing the implied different colours of the work.
