Chorale for organ op. 17 by Maurice Journeau at Antwerp Cathedral
February 5th, 2023Historically, the "Choral pour orgue" by the french composer Maurice Journeau (1898-1999) was written in Nice (March, 1931), a french sea-resort where he spent a decade. It was his first attempt, but he later wrote again from time to time for organ solo, violin and organ, voice and organ. This work was performed in organ concerts in France by french organists. But with Master Peter Van de Velde it was the first performance in Belgium, making us lucky to be able to listen to him by means of "YouTube" in the beautiful Cathedral of Our Lady Antwerp on Schyven-organ (1981).
