On Radio "Accent 4" : "Petite Suite pour cordes et piano" Op. 13
November 9th, 2021 à 4.14 pmThis quintet for strings and piano was written by Maurice Journeau on June 1929 at the sea-side, in the Touquet Paris-Plage, a french resort attractive too for British people with its small airport. Rather easy from the technical point of view, this quintet is constituted by three parts : Conte (Tr: a Tale), Elégie (Tr: Elegy), Valse (Tr: Waltz). Each musical piece is of a quite different mood : first inviting listeners to dream, then impressive, and, finally, passionately whirling. The work is often performed with another Journeau's quintet, the "Nuits basques" Op. 9 written before in Biarritz, in the Basque Country and also at the sea-side.
