"Petite Suite pour Cordes et piano" op.13
November 2013Recently published and beautifully engraved by the Editions Europart-Music in Ligugé, near Poitiers in France, the Petite Suite pour cordes et piano by Maurice Journeau is a quintet for strings (first and second violins, cello, contrabass) and piano. This title unites three chamber music pieces composed by him in Le Touquet Paris-Plage, a sea resort in the Pas-de-Calais in the north of France in June 1929. These ones are respectively Conte, Elégie and Valse. The fist one invites the listener to dream, the second, a majestic one, will seem rather impressive to him, while a relief mixed with passion is brought to the public by the whirling waltz, making thus a bright end to the Suite.(Ch.Virlet-journeau)
