A new issue: "Quatre Impromptus pour flûte"
February 2013Maurice Journeau's chamber music works were mostly characterized by the union of strings and piano until an instrumental renewal from 1949 to 1955. This was owed to the composer's interest then in some wind instruments: oboe, flute, bassoon, even the rare oboe d'amore and the cor anglais in his doublereed quartet. An audacious attempt at a time when French radio still remained indifferent to them...Also an exceptional interlude of some years until an ultimate work for clarinet in 1984, his last year of composition. So, within this musical period, the "Quatre Impromptus pour flûte"(and piano)op.35 were composed in 1951. The work has been recently published by "Editions Fortin-Armiane", a publisher in Paris.Chantal Virlet-Journeau
