Maurice Journeau composed this Sonata op.6 in his native town of Biarritz when he returned to the Basque country in 1923, at the end of his studies in the "Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris". A musical work full of the moving waves of the Atlantic Ocean at the piano, with sometimes, expressed by the violin, the piercing cry of a gull flying over the sand.The very landscape the young composer could daily watch and enjoy.
